Ever since I can remember I have been interested in plants, gardening, anything to do with the outdoors. A chance encounter with a book on western herbal medicine led me to begin studying how I could use plants to help my health. I was a chronic headache and migraine sufferer and I had tried everything western medicine had to offer, but never had any results. I had resigned myself to coping with the headaches for the rest of my life. Then, during one of the classes on western herbalism I attended, I was part of a “what is wrong with me” forum where a panel of practitioners suggested acupuncture. I started treatments as soon as I could and within six months felt like I had a brand new head. My experiences inspired me to commit to four years pursuing a master’s degree in acupuncture and herbal medicine so that I can help people achieve health just as I had been helped.
As a practitioner, my goals are to use the different modalities of my medicine – acupuncture, dietary therapy, shiatsu massage, moxibustion and herbal therapy to help my patients achieve health. I also seek to inspire my patients to realize that they can make positive changes to their health and well-being, and that when we work together as a team the changes can be profound.
I studied at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine for four years and graduated with a master’s degree in acupuncture and herbal medicine. As part of my education, I had the privilege of observing patient treatments in the clinic and witnessed others having healing experiences similar to mine. In my final year of school, I practiced in the OCOM clinic as an intern. I had the opportunity to treat patients under the direction of my professors. I also had the amazing opportunity to study in China with doctors in Chinese hospitals.
I am a board certified practitioner, currently licensed in the states of Montana and Oregon. I practice in Missoula, Montana and Stevensville, Montana. For more information on how to schedule an appointment with me, please go to the appointment page.
